The area which is well known for its quiet neighborhoods, top performing schools, and outstanding homes have established itself as an attractive place for residents. According to a Bloomberg report as of 2019, the village has been rated as the most expensive town on the east coast and the second most expensive one in the country which can be attributed to those who live here due to many community members being at the top in their specific career. This affluent community is located within the Westchester area of New York and is home to a charming center village with a number of independent bakeries, restaurants, and boutique stores.
HISTORY OF SCARSDALE
Scarsdale’s history began in 1666 when a man named Caleb, who was part of Mayor Heathcote of Chesterfield’s family in England, moved to America and started purchasing land around the Westchester area. He set up royal manors on this land, one of which being what is now Scarsdale — a name he borrowed from his ancestral home in Europe.
Over the next few centuries the area, which had then become an official town, would see not much development with only a couple hundred residents. This all changed when train transportation to New York was introduced and some wealthy citizens constructed homes in the town. In 1891, the first forming of suburbs in the town took shape which gave way to a development that would continue on throughout the 20th century, consistently expanding the village to what it is now today.
